Hand Phones and Mobile Phones for Urban Areas
A mobile phone, cellphone, hand phone, sometimes shorthanded to just cell or simply phone and sometimes shortened to just mobile, phone or hand phone, can make and get calls over a cellular radio frequency signal while the user is traveling within a call service area. The users call either on their cellular phone or on hand phone. Cell phones are more expensive than hand phones. Hand phones are cheaper than cell phones. Both have limited talk time, no messaging and other similar features.
A lot of people in rural and remote areas can’t get high speed Internet access, so they need to use their cell only for voice and messaging. In this case a Mobile Broadband Network comes into play. Mobile Broadband Network is the convergence of various technologies like Global Positioning System (GPS), Digital Integrated Data Exchange (DID Exchange) and Wireless Access Providers’ (WAP) technologies to create a mobile phone network. As the name implies, there are several base stations which are usually close by for the cell phone user to connect to. As the base station transmits radio waves into the mobile phone network, the user then receives and can make calls as well as receive calls.
To make calls, you need a Mobile Phone. These are not traditional phones that you would use at a landline. Instead, it is much like the wireless laptop computer that you would take with you. The Mobile Phone allows you to be always on the go and not have to worry about missing an important call. You can also stay connected to your office network and other colleagues or friends who may be far away.
There are three major technologies used in Mobile Phone Service – CDMA, GSM and UMTS. The CDMA technology was the first to be used. In this case, one cell is equipped with a special code that enables it to be distinguishable from the others. When you receive a call on one of these cells, the station will automatically acknowledge the call and transfer the call to the nearest free cell of the Mobile Phone System. The GSM technology enables you to talk to anyone with any Mobile Phone as long as there is a network connection.
The UMTS or Universal Mobile Telephone System was the next step up from CDMA. The UMTS allows for two unique cell phones to be connected at the same time with each one being treated as a separate unit. In the event of a power outage, you can still talk to your colleagues or friends using a hand phone as long as they also have a UMTS Cellular Telephone. This is different from CDMA where you only have one chance to make a call before the network goes down.
Since the onset of advanced technology, many companies have offered support for different mobile phones in urban areas. Many individuals have taken advantage of this and use their personal cell phones for business purposes. With internet services are becoming more common, people are able to use their personal cell phones to access email and to chat online. You could also use your hand phone to order food at restaurants if you do not have a laptop or tablet computer with you. For more information, please visit my blog.
